Interview Session With Minstrel Jid (Part 2)

MM BLOG: Sir, what are your thoughts concerning the current waves of unrest in Plateau State?

Minstrel Jid: First, my sincere heartfelt condolence to families and communities that lost loved ones and had their properties destroyed. Grace and fortitude. It’s disheartening that some people now drive pleasure in ending the lives of others, destroying properties, disrupting the peace, rendering families homeless and all of these are carefully premeditated but all hope isn’t lost. We’ll keep preaching peaceful coexistence, stay praying, and impressing on the government of the day to do the needful. Plateau is the Lords.

MM BLOG: In what ways has the unrest affected you as a gospel music minister and leader? What has been the impact on gospel events in the state?

Minstrel Jid: Nothing works without peace. Nothing. Be it business, ministry, tourism, education, etc. Everything is taken aback. Events and congresses. It led to tonnes of postponements but then it’s only a phase, this too shall pass and we’ve learned to improvise.

MM BLOG: These are indeed dark days, but Bible says “all things work together for good to them that love God”. Sir, do you believe good things are happening for the Christian community in the state even now?

Minstrel Jid: Unflinchingly yes. In seen and unseen ways. The Bible is true and infallible.

MM BLOG: What is your message to Christians and gospel ministers living and working in the state amid this crisis?

Minstrel Jid: In all of these, we are more than conquerors through Christ. Nothing lost, nothing broken. This is an avenue for us to saturate the atmosphere with the worship of Jesus, call folks to repentance and raise His banner over Plateau. This too shall pass. No hope is lost.

MM BLOG: What message do you have for the Governor of Plateau State?

Minstrel Jid: Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown but of whom much is given, much is expected. I implore he calls a spade a spade. Go beyond talks and take action. Restore leadership confidence in the hearts of Plateau citizens by bringing perpetrators to book, rebuild destroyed structures, reclaim stolen lands, compensate and empathize with the affected communities and forestall such sad happenings. I pray him courage and wisdom.

MM BLOG: Thank you so much sir. It’s been a wonderful time spent with you. May God bless and increase you.

Minstrel Jid: Amen and Amen. Most welcome
